Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome toy and project We have been having incredible fun just building this robot for days. It's a fantastic hobby for father/son and really helps children pay attention to the details while enjoying the process of learning! Once he's up and running my son can't wait to interact. 12 boys were hovering around this little guy; all jealous that they didn't have one because "the word on the street" is that he can do your homework and it really powerful in his knowledge. My son is super excited and has enjoyed the entire process along the way. Way to go Spin Master for finding a quality educational and fun activity to bond over. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Future Generation Of Robot Toys I think that Meccano 2.0 is the newest and coolest toy not only for kids but adults. My son and I decided to get right into building this kit. The problem we discovered was that it had so many pieces to put together. Tons of screws. My eleven year old son couldn't do this on his own. I think the concept of this robot is awesome, but think it has way to many parts. I found it somewhat confusing at times. I would want to buy another kit just not so many pieces. Definitely a fun thing to build and bonding time with my son. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A bit too big for 10 year olds I was sent this from BzzzAgent as a promotional product. I have two sons, one younger (13) and the older one (16) Honestly the younger one wouldn't have the patience to put this type of thing together. Too many steps and too much to do. (he is more of an action type of guy) The older one spent about 4 hours putting it together. And as you can see he got a bit tired and put it together a bit backwards. Easily fixed. It's a good toy, but don't just buy it for anybody. Make sure they enjoy construction. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Meccanoid 2.0 Personal Robot I think this robot is awesome!! I don't feel however that this is a project for the typical 10 year old or even 12 year old. It has so many parts and can get confusing only relying on the pictures. There needs to be a better labeling system for the parts. I think this is a great project to do with a parent or as a family!! Great bonding time! It would be nice if it had a sensor so that it would stop running into things. Overall, very fun!! It is awesome how you can sync it with your smart phone and I love how you can personize him! Playing games with him provides loads of laughter. This is going to be a great Christmas gift this year and I believe an adult or teen would really enjoy it as well!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mecanno 2.0! This at first seemed overwhelming, so many pieces and the time it took to build. The best part was building it as a family, even better playing with it after as a family. The worst part, almost 500 pieces and i honestly feel that the company could have some of this assembled before packaging to save the consumer time. Also think instead of 4 D batteries, a micro USB charging system would be a better option than attaching4 big batteries that drain fast in the back. Technology is incredible on this little guy, the bluetooth app is very cool! With the app you are able to change light themes, control the movement of Mecanno, very fun!!! Anyone looking into buying this should expect sometime to assemble. This is a very advanced "Toy" and [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Challenging But Fun! I wasn't sure what to expect from the Meccanoid but my Daughter and I were looking for a project so we took on the challenge. When we first opened up the box, we were kind of intimidated. There are lots of parts - LOTS of them. But as we sorted it everything out we realized that it wasn't as daunting as we first thought. You will certainly need to reserve a significant amount of time to the project, but the directions are easy to understand and the challenge is all part of the fun. I was impressed at how everything fit. Many times with projects like this the directions aren't clear, or you end up forcing things together. As long as you follow the steps (which are very clear and include great diagrams), everything comes together! We're about halfway through the project now and we're having a ton of fun doing it! Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome product The meccanoid was really fun to build, but took a while, so make sure you have a little time on your hands, it took me about 4 hours to get it completely built. The instructions are really well put together and helped a lot, just make sure to pay attention the colors of bolts.(I learned this the hard way) After building it and turning it on it tells you to download it's software, many times, and in many ways. It tells you exactly where to go and how to install it, which was nice. After updating the software the robot had a lot more commands. My favorite were the 'Tell me a story', 'Tell me a joke', and 'Gimmie five'. Then, I installed the app; it connects with your robot so you can control it's directions on your mobile device. Just make sure to use it on a flat surface, it doesn't run too well on carpet. All in all it was a fun toy, and will be played with a lot from the family. Rated 3 out of 5 by from Time Consuming To be honest my daughter who's 19 and my who's 12 said its too many screws and you need tools to put it together. It is a great robot but the age group ranges from 10 on up I don't know about the age 10. It's still sitting on my dinner room table no put together yet.
